We are delighted to announce the launch of the beta version of the world’s first strengths-based 360-degree leadership profiler. This powerful online tool builds on Strengths Partnership’s growing portfolio of solutions to help leaders identify and optimise their own and their followers’ strengths, including our Strengths Accelerator™ development programme, our leadership book, Stretch – Leading Beyond Boundaries, and a powerful suite of online development resources.
The profiler is based on the latest research into 21st century leadership and recognises that the most successful leaders don’t achieve excellence in the same way. They have unique strengths, skills and qualities that they draw on to deliver results. They don’t shy away from stretching themselves and their team in areas of strength to push the boundaries and achieve outstanding results.
Unlike standard 360’s that only help leaders understand their behaviors, StrengthscopeLeader™ measures:
1. Unique strengths the leader brings to their role
The underlying qualities that energise them and they are good at (or have potential to become good at). These strengths and the way they are applied at work provide immense potential for growth and success if optimised and honed in the right way.
2. How the individual leads
Their behaviors across 4 research-based competency areas critical to effective leadership. These 4 developable areas are Sharing Vision, Sparking Engagement, Skillfully Executing and Sustaining Progress.
Raters confidence in their leader’s ability to deliver 4 critical outcome measures and success drivers – a clear sense of direction; a positive and motivating work environment; effective, efficient processes and planned results.
The profiler allows up to 18 raters to provide feedback and in addition to typical multiple-choice type responses, raters are invited to give verbatim comments to provide added understanding about strengths, weaker areas and areas for improvement. As with all our profilers, the report is straightforward to complete and easy to read and understand, using simple language, icons and a traffic-light color scheme to aid understanding.
The profiler doesn’t ignore weaknesses and risk areas and helps leaders understand not just areas of weakness, but also strengths that are not being used as effectively as possible, including overdone strengths or strengths used in the wrong way, in the wrong amount or at the wrong time, resulting in unfavorable performance outcomes. Strengths-based strategies for overcoming these weaker areas are offered to the leader resulting in a much more empowering and positive development experience.
We are currently piloting the profiler with a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector organisations and intend to launch the final product early this autumn.
