Scientifically valid and reliable.

Developed in 2006, Strengthscope® is the first strengths-based assessment in the world to have achieved the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) Registered Test status. The standards set by the BPS are based on the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) guidelines, which are recognised as a global gold standard.

The BPS Registered-Test status confirms that Strengthscope®:

  • Measures strengths consistently over time and across situations (test-retest and internal consistency reliability).
  • Presents an accurate picture of performance-related strengths at work (construct and content validity).
  • Measures what energises and motivates people at work, helping them discover areas where they can achieve peak performance and high engagement.
  • Creates awareness of performance risks, in the form of strengths going into overdrive and energy drainers. In this sense, Strengthscope® differs from traditional personality profiling tools, which help to explain behaviour and preferences.

We define ‘strengths’ as underlying qualities that energise us, that we are great at, or have the potential to become great at. Our strengths contribute to our personal growth and lead to peak performance.

Our core model

We measure 24 intrinsic qualities that are most closely related to performance at work, identifying what energises people and what drains their energy. Our core assessment comprises 186 rating scale items (175 items for scoring; 11 items for research), plus dynamically generated questions to help respondents ascertain:

  1. Their ‘Significant Seven’ strengths
  2. The extent to which they are able to productively apply their strengths at work
  3. How visible their strengths are to others
