Strengthscope® becomes the first strengths assessment to achieve Registered Test Status with the UK’s British Psychological Society (BPS)

Innovative talent management company, Strengths Partnership, today announces that its Strengthscope® profiling system has achieved Registered Test Status with the UK’s British Psychological Society (BPS). Developed in the UK 10 years ago by Strengths Partnership founders Dr Paul Brewerton and James Brook, Strengthscope® is used by a wide range of organisations globally to energise peak performance at work. The cloud-based strengths profiling system powers employee development programmes for many leading brands including Sainsbury’s, EE, BT, PhotoBox, Channel 4, BOC and Genentech.

Strengthscope® is the only strengths-based assessment in the world to have achieved this highly prestigious status, which is based on rigorous testing for reliability, validity and ‘fit for purpose’. The standards laid down by the BPS are based on European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) guidelines, which are recognised as a global gold standard.

– The BPS has confirmed that Strengthscope®:

– Measures the 24 strengths in the model reliably over time

– Predicts high performance at work

– Measures what energises and motivates people at work in order to help them discover areas where they can achieve peak performance and high engagement (in this sense, Strengthscope® differs from traditional personality measures that help to explain behaviour and preferences).

In addition, recent independent studies, including one by City University London1, have shown that Strengthscope® is both a valid and reliable measure of work-based strengths and other studies show that the assessment measures strengths without bias across gender, age and ethnic group.

Commenting on this achievement, Dr Paul Brewerton, Joint Managing Director of Strengths Partnership and co-creator of Strengthscope®, said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised by the British Psychological Society. Achieving this ‘gold standard’ means that Strengthscope® customers can be certain that the assessment measures employees’ work-based strengths and energies fairly and precisely wherever they are in the world, and that Strengthscope® accurately predicts and activates peak performance at work.”
